ILOILO City, April 1 (PNA) — Punta Lacaran Fisherfolks, a small association of fishermen in Dumangas town in Iloilo, has received financial assistance from Senator Allan Peter Cayetano.

Cayetano personally handed the P100,000 cash to the president of the association, Jose Puti Jr.. The assistance which is part of the launching of his Presyo, Trabaho, Kita (PTK) program recently.

According to Cayetano, the other association beneficiary is from Sara town.

Cayetano said the association can have the fund released to its member through a loan so that they can jumpstart a small business or livelihood to help them earn an extra living.

The senator emphasized that the PTK program is an anti 5-6 lending scheme.

He assured the association that he will give additional funding if they can sustain or make their capital grow.

He said he will be back after three to five months to check the status of the capital he extended.

On behalf of the association, Puti thanked the senator saying the help would benefit the association’s 30 members and their respective families.

Meanwhile, former Iloilo 4th district Congressman Ferjinil Biron committed also to give additional P100,000 to the association.

He advised the fisherfolks to consider the funding given to them as a responsibility to take care of.

Biron himself even shared that he himself started his now booming-business with only P30,000 which he borrowed from his father. But because of his determination and sacrifices, he was able to make his business grow.(PNA)
