ILOILO CITY, March 9 (PNA) — Iloilo City will be at the forefront of World Health Organization (WHO) Western Pacific Region’s ProLEAD Module 2 workshop under the Southeast Asia Tobacco Control Alliance.

Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog announced that Iloilo City Anti-Smoking Task Force (ICAST) Executive Director Iñigo Garingalao will represent the city as resource speaker of the workshop to be held in Guam from April 20 to 22.

“Our anti-smoking initiatives are reverberating internationally and we are committed to continue making our communities in Iloilo City healthy and smoke-free,” he said.

The workshop aims to enhance the leadership skills of participants and enable them to develop an action plan on hypertension prevention and control at the primary care level.

Garingalao will discuss about the impact of anti-smoking campaign, anti-smoking ordinance and challenges to become a smoke-free city.

“I will also talk about public-private-community partnership, the Regional Tobacco Network, and Iloilo City’s enforcement of the anti-smoking ordinance,” he added.

Among the workshop participants are representatives from Guam Department of Public Health and Social Services, and Cancer and Diabetes coalitions. (PNA)
