ILOILO CITY, May 09 (PNA) — The Philippine Football Team routed Chinese Taipei in the ongoing AFC President’s Cup held on Thursday evening at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

The Philippine team is represented by Ceres-La Salle Football Club which blanked Chinese Taipei’s Tatung Company, 2-0.

Patrick Alcala Reichelt scored the first goal for the Philippine team during the first half of the match while Juan Guirado scored another goal four minutes before the second half of the play ended.

Reichelt and Guirado were both members of the Philippine Football Team Azkals.

During the match, Chinese Taipei tried hard to score but goalkeeper Louie Michael Casas foiled their attempts.

The first night of the AFC President’s Cup on Tuesday that saw action between the Philippines and Democratic People’s Republic of Korea or North Korea, Casas admitted to have committed certain lapses making their rival to even the score.

The game ended in a draw, 2-2.

Ceres-La Salle Bacolod Football Club coach Ali Go expressed elation over the result of the match between the host team and North Korea.

He said the draw score made by the Philippines against the formidable football team from North Korea only showed that Pinoy players has the capability to rumble for the next round.

On Saturday, the Philippine Team will face off Turkmenistan which is the defending champion in the 2013 AFC President’s Cup.(PNA)
