One thing about being an Ilonggo is our love for food. That explains the increasing number of restaurants in the city. With the current developments in the city, many restaurants serving a variety of cuisines have been sprouting everywhere in the city of love. Despite new competition, one restaurant always comes to mind when it comes to serving the most sumptuous meals in the city—The Mango Tree.

Locates in Guzman St., in the district of Mandurriao, The Mango Tree is considered to be “formal” by most people. Perhaps it’s because most of the restaurants in Iloilo are considered “laid back.” However, this is a common misconception. The Mango Tree actually serves delicious Filipino meals at very reasonable prices.

Another thing that makes The Mango Tree stand out is the ambiance. On the outside, without looking at the signage, the place may seem like an old plain bungalow. However, once you enter the bistro, a quaint yet romantic and classy restaurant welcomes you. The Mango Tree isn’t called The Mango Tree for no reason. With the place comes a wide backyard with a big mango towering in the middle. Here most of the outdoor gatherings are held. Did I forget to mention that the restaurant also caters weddings, baptisms and other parties? Yes, The Mango Tree caters all of them. The place is especially perfect for a garden wedding or even just a romantic dinner for lovebirds.

The Menu

Whenever I get the chance to dine at this restaurant, only three meals come to mind: Seafood Paella, Steak ala Pobre and Sizzling Seafood plate (actually almost all the meals are quite yummy). Other bestsellers include Chicken Bulgogi, Buffalo wings, Pepper Steak, and Chop suey.

All in all, when one visits Iloilo and wants to experience a gastronomic adventure, The Mango Tree should be located there, right on top of your list.
