ILOILO CITY, Mar 27 (PNA) — The signing of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) is a landmark decision of government that can put an end to the Muslim conflict in Mindanao, this is how Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. described it.

Defensor, in an interview on Thursday a few hours before the signing of the agreement in Manila, further said that hopefully this could be finalized and approved for it could usher enduring, real and meaningful peace in Mindanao.

The signing of the CAB Thursday afternoon is very important for it would pave the enactment of the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law that will be instrumental for the election of officials of the Bangsamoro political entity.

Meanwhile, Iloilo Provincial Police Office Dir. Cornelio Salinas said that he had served as provincial director of North Cotabato and that he finds the CAB signing as very important.

”It will be for the interest of the nation and preservation of culture as Filipinos,” Salinas said.

He said that it is now but high time for Christians and Muslims in Mindanao to share with each other the rich natural resources and wealth of Mindanao.

He urged those who took up arms in the struggle to already disarm themselves and embrace each other for progress and peace in their area.(PNA)
