ILOILO CITY, July 4 (PNA)– The Expanded Pantawid Pamilya program has been availed off by 3,359 children of indigent families in Western Visayas during its first year of implementation, according to Department of Social Welfare and Development Assistant director Joel Galicia.

Galicia said that the Expanded Pantawid is still being implemented in WV this year to still provide opportunities for children of indigent families covered by the Pantawid to avail of the program.

With the Expanded Pantawid, the age coverage of children has been extended to 18 years old or until they could finish high school so there would be higher chance of getting employed. The beneficiaries are given a grant amounting to P500 per child in high school. This means that a qualified household with three children in high school would receive a maximum grant package of P2,000 per month.

Health grant package remains at P500 per month

Each Pantawid family is still allocated a maximum of three children to be covered but that they just have to choose who among the children will have to be covered.

Galicia said the Expanded Pantawid beneficiaries or scholars in the Region are 294 in Aklan; 311 in Antique; 414 in Capiz; 87 in Guimaras; 981 in Iloilo; and 1,272 in Negros Occidental.
