ILOILO CITY, April 24 (PNA) – Iloilo First District Congressman Oscar “Richard” Garin said that he is prioritizing road widening in his district.

Garin, in an interview, said that all national roads in the first district have already been concretized during the term of his wife, former Congresswoman Janette L. Garin who served from 2004 to 2013, and so he prioritizes the road widening which will go full swing in 2015.

”Only 600 meters of the Tubungan to Leon national road have been left for concreting but that will soon be finished too,” the congressman said.

He said that as a civil engineer himself he will focus on road widening starting from San Nicolas, Oton which is the boundary of Iloilo city and Iloilo first district to Tiolas, San Joaquin which is about 50-kilometer in length.

He further said the road widening in San Nicolas, Oton to Tiolas, San Joaquin will make the present road network into a 4-lane with 10-meter right of way on the left and another 10-meter on the right side.

”Good roads are the lifeblood of progress of a locality,” Garin added.(PNA)
